New Rules for AEWV Holders When Employers Change

Starting November 6, 2024, if you hold an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and your employer changes due to a business sale or restructure, you'll need to apply for a Job Change—even if you stay in the same role and location.

Here’s how it works:

- New Employer Accreditation: If your new employer is already accredited or has applied for accreditation when you submit your Job Change application, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) can approve your Job Change without waiting for the employer’s accreditation to be finalized.

- Job Check Not Needed: Your new employer won’t need a Job Check as long as your role and work location remain the same.

- Employer Quotas: If you’re switching employers due to a sale or restructure, you’ll count toward the new employer’s standard accreditation quota of 5 AEWV employees. If your new employer will exceed this number, they should apply for high-volume accreditation before you apply for a Job Change.

These updates are part of INZ’s commitment to improving processing times and making the AEWV process more efficient, as it plays a key role in New Zealand's workforce needs.
