Immigration New Zealand has modernized the Active Investor Plus Visa, introducing simplified settings and broader investment options to attract foreign investors.
On 1 April 2025, Immigration New Zealand updated the Active Investor Plus Visa to make investing in New Zealand more attractive and accessible. The new visa settings simplify the application process and offer two investment categories: Growth and Balanced. Growth category investors are required to commit a minimum of NZD $5 million over a three-year term, while Balanced category investors must invest at least NZD $10 million over five years. These categories allow investments across a wider range of acceptable options, including bonds and property investments.
The updated settings also reduce the time investors are required to spend in New Zealand, based on the total amount invested. Additionally, newborn children of investors will now qualify for a dependent child resident visa. Applicants with existing applications have until 31 May 2025 to transition to the new settings without any fee. Immigration New Zealand and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise will collaborate to ensure investors receive the necessary support to make investments and relocate to New Zealand.
Engaging with a licensed immigration adviser can help navigate these changes effectively and maximize the benefits of the updated visa categories. To explore how these updates may align with your investment goals, consider booking a "needs analysis" discovery call on our website.
